The Little Green Paint Company

Colours of England: 60 period paint shades from Little Greene & English Heritage Identifying a gap in the market for truly authenticated historical paint colours, Little Greene has joined forces with English Heritage to produce an inspirational palette of 60 verified shades, due to be launched in September 2005. With renowned paint historian Patrick Baty acting as consultant, Little Greene and English Heritage carried out a meticulous research project: starting with thousands of archive paint samples, the range was painstakingly edited down to 60 definitive colours which capture the essence of Englands past from Georgian times to the 1950s. As further proof of authenticity, each colour retains its original name and bears a description of its provenance. In a harmonious marriage between past and present, classical and contemporary, the Little Greene English Heritage paints are suitable for a wide variety of properties, ranging from listed buildings to state-of-the-art apartments. Each shade has been judiciously selected for use either on its own or in conjunction with the Little Greene Originals and Catwalk collections and is available in a variety of water- and oil-based finishes, including three additional products, distemper, limewash and flat oil paint. With a heritage of its own dating back to 1773, Little Greene is committed to preserving the countrys rich inheritance for future generations. The environmentally-aware company specialises in interior and exterior paints of the highest quality which are manufactured combining 21st Century technology with traditional materials; many of its colours are based on the naturally occurring minerals of iron, including pigments such as yellow ochre, umber, red oxide and lamp black. Little Greenes technologically-advanced production processes result in reduced waste and VOC emissions and minimised use of solvents. The paints are fast drying, virtually odourless, fully washable and need fewer applications, making them incredibly user-friendly as well. As a further commitment to preserving the nations heritage, Little Greene has pledged a generous donation to English Heritage for every can of paint sold, thereby helping to protect and conserve Englands inheritance for both present and future generations. In addition, for every can of Little Greene English Heritage paint purchased, customers will be entitled to 2 for 1 entry to selected English Heritage sites and properties. Little Greene Managing Director, David Mottershead, believes passionately in safeguarding the countrys legacy and is excited by his companys unique collaboration with English Heritage: With a shared philosophy of building on heritage for the benefit of todays environment, Little Greene and English Heritage have developed an authentic and inspiring paint collection; honest, uncompromising and scrupulously genuine, the range has been born out of a mutual passion to bring integrity of colour and content into the home. English Heritage is responsible for ensuring the countrys historic environment is properly maintained and upheld, employing some of the countrys finest archaeologists and conservationists to provide the requisite expertise and guidance.
